Unboxing the February 2016 Loot Crate: Dead

Unboxing the February 2016 Loot Crate: Dead
Photo-A-Day #3971

I opened my latest Loot Crate today, the February 2016 Loot Crate: Dead. I receive the newest Loot Crate every month to unbox and review. It is something that I have been doing ever since the very first one years ago. Ever since I’ve received some incredible stuff from the Loot Crate company. This month even though I only had use for half the box I still received some great stuff. You’ll notice that I pretty much only photographed the Deadpool stuff and the monthly magazine and the Loot Pin. That was all that was of use to me. Since the theme was Dead this meant that it would include some Walking Dead stuff in the crate. I’m not a fan. And because this month was the month that Deadpool was being released then the other half of the box would have Deadpool related stuff in it. I am a fan. I love the shirt and the special statue. I was even lucky enough to receive the more rare X-Force suit for Deadpool. This is a white suit instead of his usual red one. They must have a really good dry cleaner on X-Force.

As far as the Walking Dead Stuff I have a friend who loves the show and he’d enjoy the Walking Dead stuff inside. I’m not one for zombies, they hold no interest for me. At least I have a friend who will get some use out of the stuff and this month’s box as well. That is Walking Dead related, too.

I am also a very big fan of the new way that Loot Crate does pins. These are now die cast pins instead of buttons and they unlock some additional special items online. Some really excellent additions to an already great crate of loot.

When Our Family Night Includes Netflix #StreamTeam

Deciding our next Netflix ViewingThis post is part of my monthly Netflix #StreamTeam Series and this month we were asked about our family nights. What are family nights like in our house? Well, they are not typically on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights because of my funky work schedule so they have to be another night during the week. This does not mean that we don’t eat dinner with each other every night that we can or spend some time watching the TV. But for a big time night with the family and family time being the important time we try and watch a movie together, play a family video game or board game. As far as meals on family nights we try and either make something or go and get some takeout from our favorite places. We also go and pop a ton of popcorn, grab some M&Ms and other mix-ins for the popcorn and house that whole bowl. The kids and Allison usually are on the couch and I get the loveseat because it isn’t unheard of for me to fall asleep while watching a movie, especially with my weird schedule.

If family night involves a movie then the routine is a little bit of a pain. The kids are 4 and 8 so their taste in movies is vastly different. Each wants something that the other one doesn’t want. However, when we decide on something to watch on Netflix I go through and pick a bunch of family movies and add them to my list. Once they are on My List then we go through each of them and ask the kids to make a decision. If no decision is made in a timely manner then Dad makes the decision based on what he wants to watch. Most of the time the choice works out and the kids end up liking what they get to watch. This past Sunday I was off work and it was the last day of School Vacation. I pulled up Netflix after dinner and we all watched Charlotte’s Web together. There were some moments of tears from the sad parts of the movie but other than that the movie was enjoyed by everyone. And the next time we have a family night where a movie is involved we still have more choices on My List ready to go.

We loved Charlotte's Web

While we do not watch a movie every night we do watch plenty of shows. On Friday February 26th Allison and I can introduce our kids to Fuller House. This new show is a continuation of the Full House series from the 80’s that, and I’m not ashamed to say it, I never missed an episode. I loved that show. I watched it every week during TGIF (it was an 80’s thing). I have seen the first couple episodes of Fuller House via some screeners as part of the Netflix Stream Team. In fact, right before I wrote this post I was watching an episode and my children, who were not going to bed easily at all, came down and watched a bit with me. I think that they are going to enjoy the show. They seemed to like what they watched and wanted to watch the next one, but it is hard to type, watch a show and balance one kid on each knee at the same time. When the show does debut this Friday then it is going right onto My List so we can access it anytime to watch together.

Fuller HouseThere are so many choices on Netflix and many great family options. Here are a few suggestions when you are looking for something for one of your family nights. Continue reading When Our Family Night Includes Netflix #StreamTeam
