I once wrote a post for Jim Kukral’s blog. Gary Vaynerchuk is writing a book called the Thank You Economy (I think he said that in his latest video.) My friend and client Ed Gerety is huge in gratitude, he blogs about it all the time and he lives it. This flower is actually from Ed and his wife Suzanne. Thank you guys!
When I got home today I was greeted with this beautiful flower as part of an even more beautiful arrangement. I’ve been helping Ed get his blog off the ground. I really enjoy working with Ed and his wife Suzanne. They are some really nice people who live gratitude and spread gratitude.
The room I used to shoot this photo was poorly lit and so I used the pop up flash. The problem with using the pop up flash and my Sigma 18-250mm lens is that the lens is very long. Every time I take a shot there is a rounded shadow at the bottom of the picture. So to counteract that I aimed the lens down and focused the top of the frame to prevent that shadow from appearing. |

Tonight when I got home Allison, Eva and I had a family picnic. We had dinner in the living room and watched The Princess and the Frog for the first time. For the most part Eva had a good time watching the movie but she was a bit of a little noodge today. She’s overtired and cranky, I can’t understand why because she sleeps for nearly 12 hours in a stretch. She won’t nap though.
The movie was pretty good. I’ve noticed that the Dad’s in princess movies really get shafted. They either die or look stupid or are too set in their ways to see what is going on with their daughters. The princes are also very one dimensional in these movies too, however I have noticed that many of the later movies like Alladin, Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Frog have pretty decent and well rounded prince characters (although Beast never gets a real name). All in all I think that with each new Disney movie they start to flesh out the characters pretty well.
Sounds like a fun birthday! We feel truly blessed to know you. Very cool picture of the flowers…Ed and I are psyched to have you and your expertise on the team.
Suzanne,
Oh this was just a special night, not my birthday, that is tomorrow. We’re going to make a special buffalo chicken pizza for dinner.
I am happy to be a part of the team.
Nice detailing in that photo! Love the bright color.

Deborah,
Thanks, I love getting real close to flowers. I should get out the macro lens again and shoot more.
