We were sent an Optimus Prime themed Mr. Potato Head Mix & Mash toy to play with and review. Opinions expressed are 100% our own.
When I went to Toy Fair 2014 I was able to get a first look at the Mr. Potato Head Mix & Mash line. These smaller Mr. Potato head figures are a two inch scale figure with various Marvel and Transformers costumes to put on. We received the Optimus prime one which included Optimus’ helmet, arms and chest, feet, smokestacks, truck cab and truck body. That is everything you would need to play with Optimus as a truck or a robot and even in between transformations as shown in the image above. Growing up as a Transformers fan I made sure to watch everything and anything that came along. I watched all of Transformers Armada (part one of the Unicron Trilogy of shows) and then went right into Transformers Energon. I collected the toys and have most of them still in the boxes. I have a ton of them because I still had a little discretionary income to use on toys. I liked the concept of the Powerlinking that the characters did. Being able to combine characters with each other and thus mix and match up the team was an interesting concept.
The show itself was okay. There was a blending of CGI and traditional cel animation which gave the show a unique look. I know I enjoyed watching the show because it was Transformers. I am also sure that I liked Transformers Cybertron more and then got really excited when Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime came along. This series is part of the overall Transformers history and helped get us to where the Transformers franchise is today. Here are some clips from the show and a Press Release about the May 6th release of the DVD collected series. Continue reading DVD Review: Transformers Energon: The Complete Series→
