Photo-A-Day #2213
Today I took Eva to the World War One Memorial Park and Zoo. This is a place that we will probably be visiting often throughout the summer. With me starting to me home more because of the new job I’ll be seeing a lot of this place. It is a really nice park to take kids. There is an area where there are farm animals like goats, horses and pigs. There is an area with slides, swings and more. Off to the side there is a ski area and as we were leaving I liked the view very much. I walked Eva over to that area to take a few pictures. I liked this one the most.
I noticed that I’m what I’ll determine as a “Shark” Father. I constantly circle around watching what Eva is doing, being right there in case she slips. she’s pretty fearless on the jungle gym. She’s just not strong enough to pull herself along on the monkey bars but she wants to go on them. So, if I am not right there she climbs right up to them anyway. I did notice that she’s gotten more sure footed as she climbs around the playground. I’m just not sure if I’m quite ready to stop circling yet.
You really get a glimpse of people while you are at a playground.
Tonight, Allison and I went over to the Elks Lodge. It was a night of fundraising for the Downtown Flowers. Each table was catered by a different restaurant or person and each table was themed. It was a dinner with a local celebrity night. My friend Neil had a table and it was themed as the Godfather complete with the “Leave the gun Take the Cannoli” line. I think we did pretty well raising money. Neil charged us for some missing items and then we were free to spend money on raffle tickets and other things, like cookies form other tables and cupcakes from SweetWorks. Those were tasty. The Cannoli was very good too.
Our dinner was catered by SoupWorks. We’re fans of that restaurant and dinner was very good. We met some nice people and even won an item in the silent auction that was hand knit by someone from our table. We also won gift certificates, a special wreath and a coupon book good for dining in local restaurants. We had a very nice evening with our friends.r>
You know it’s a great blog post when you can fit a Godfather quote in there somewhere, any day of the week: “Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday!”
Delena
Delena,
I’ve never actually seen the movie. I’ve got to borrow it from my friend Neil. He’s always astonished that I haven’t seen the movie. Every time and he’s known me since I was in the second grade.
Great photo. It’s ok to be a shark dad when they’re this little. I would be too.
Deborah,
there is so much that she wants to do. I want to let her have her independence but I’m also scared to death that she’s going to fall or something.
Fantastic picture of Eva looking out from Watery Hill. It reminds me of a picture I took of you, when you were little, at The Castle in The Clouds in Multonboro NH.
Thanks Dad,
I got my photographer’s eye from you so it only stands to reason that I’d be drawn to this sort of scene. When you are home next I’d like to see that picture again.
