A Half Day of LEGO Play and Netflix Shows

Our Day of LEGO PlayThe Netflix StreamTeam sent me a couple of LEGO sets. One from LEGO Friends and the other from LEGO Bionicle. These two sets go along with some brand new Netflix shows of the same names. There is LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship and the other LEGO: Bionicle: The Journey to One. The kids had a half day so we spent it building all sorts of LEGO creations while we enjoyed the wide variety of LEGO shows on Netflix. We even watched the movie LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers. This movie came out before The LEGO movie and starred people like Ryan McPartlin, Yvonne Strahovski and even Chris Hardwick. It was a funny little movie filled with that LEGO humor that only LEGO can do.

The Kids Loving their LEGO Play

LEGO City

We started the afternoon by watching LEGO City, a mostly wordless short with many mini sketches with LEGO crooks trying to avoid LEGO Police and more. I picked up a LEGO set for Andrew that was LEGO City based. Even though we got two sets from the Netflix Stream Team I felt like getting one additional one just for Andrew. Eva was the perfect choice for the LEGO Friends set and Andrew was a little young for the LEGO Bionicle set. I built that set. So Andrew got a LEGO City set and he also pulled out the rest of his LEGO City sets which consisted of mostly LEGO Police sets.

LEGO Friends Camp Wild Hearts

After LEGO City we watched the new LEGO Friends: The Power of Friendship episodes. There are two of them. One episode was about Camp Wild Hearts and the other was about a basketball team. They were both pretty good and it left Eva wanting to watch even more of them. She had me bring down her bucket of LEGO Friends sets. Last year for Christmas, Eva received a bucket of 17 LEGO Friends sets that we found on a Yard Sale site for a steal. The sets are all disassembled and so she is free to express her LEGO-tivity

LEGO Bionicle

Next we watched a LEGO Bionicle episode to learn all about the figure that we received. We learned that Gali, the Toa that we received is a female character and that was something that Eva was very excited to hear. Andrew wsan’t as thrilled to watch this show, he felt the narrator’s voice was too scary so we only watched 1 of the three episodes.

LEGO Batman

After that we branched out to watch some Super Hero LEGO episodes including the LEGO DC Comics: Batman Be-Leaguered show which was very funny. We also gave equal time by watching the LEGO Marvel Superheroes: Maximum Overload. I liked the Marvel one more because it had the same voice actors from the Marvel shows that I watch on a regular basis. It also did some scenes from popular Marvel movies and really captured the Marvel style in LEGO form. Some fantastic humor there.

The LEGO excitement did not end there. We finished off the day by watching The Adventures of Clutch Powers. The whole time that we were watching the kids were building their LEGO sets and being creative.

LEGO Elves

We didn’t watch it today but there is also a LEGO Elves show on Netflix. Eva likes LEGO Elves and noticed some of the items in the show were from LEGO Elves sets that she has.

With so many LEGO related shows on Netflix you can literally watch LEGO shows all day long.

DinotruxBut, if LEGO is not your things then there are a ton of other shows on Netflix for kids. This month Dinotrux came back with a second season and that is very impressive. The show gets better and better. We also enjoy Masha and the Bear as well as Masha’s Tales. Those are hilarious shows about a little girl and a retired Moscow circus bear. Masha gets into all sorts of trouble and on Bear’s nerves all the time. This show has some fantastic physical comedy and visual comedy that even adults will enjoy.

Pee Wee's Big HolidaySpeaking of adults. Many of us remember Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, well there is an all new movie called Pee Wee’s Big Holiday that will bring out the kid in all of us adults who loved Pee Wee Herman.

Well, that is all with the kid stuff from this month on Netflix. I personally have been trying to binge Daredevil Season Two but I’m stuck on Episode 7. I better get a move on before work so I don’t get any spoilers. This season is amazing with The Punisher and Elektra. Great new additions to the series.
