Here is the official description of Anne with an E – Anne is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world. Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series centers on Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty), a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform the lives of Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and eventually the entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. Anne’s adventures will reflect timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.

Our Netflix StreamTeam contacts sent us the fun “Anne with an E” care package. It came complete with some Kindred Spirits buttons for Eva to share with her best fried as well as tissues for those episodes that will make you cry and also a copy of Anne of Green Gables plus a notebook to write all of Eva’s imaginary stories.

Eva and Andrew and Allison watched the 90 minute first episode. Allison liked it very much. I think that she read the book as a child. I never read the book myself, but I’ve heard many good things about it. Eva was more interested in getting into reading the book then watching the show. She is much more interested in books these days, which is great. I think that after she reads the book she’s going to want to watch the series. I think that I should read the book as well.
