Roots and waves
Photo-A-Day #1471

Today I attended a digital photography workshop called Digital Days. I went with the Boston winner of BenSpark’s Digital Days, Andy. Today was a learning day, a seminar, no hands on stuff. Our instructor was Phil Mistry and he was really engaging, informative and funny. He knows so much about photography and had many great examples of real life images with mistakes and fixes. We sat there and learned more about Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO I fiddled with my camera and the manual settings. I took a few shots of different things around the room like the chandelier.

The Chandelier

On the ride home I decided to stop by the Hopkinton State Park. I saw a kayaker launching but by the time I turned in and pulled up to the water I missed getting the kayaker in any shots. So, I tried to make this one with proper exposure in the waning light.

Tomorrow, the model shoot. I hope mine are even half as good as Paul Richardson’s.

Heading to Digital Days Boston

Later this morning I’m heading up to Boston to attend Digital Days, a digital photography seminar. I ran a contest this past month to give away 6 2-Day passes to Digital Days in Palm Springs, Boston, San Francisco, New York, Nashville and Atlanta. We had many great submissions and one of the winners, Paul Richardson, sent me photos that he took at the Palm Springs Digital Days event as well as a statement about the great time he had there.

I’ve just spent one of the best weekends of my life getting to know more about photography, both the technical aspects and creativity. Digital Days is such a wonderful workshop for camera hacks like me. I met some nice people and the event staff was really great. The classroom work was extremely informative and the model shoot was so fun. I highly recommend attending the event if it comes to a town near you. So, thanks to BenSpark.com for the opportunity to attend.

Here are some of Paul’s shots from the live model shoot on day two.

I think that Paul did some amazing work. I hope that mine are just as good. Can’t wait to see what this event is all about. So much to learn.
