Photo-A-Day #4239
When I came home today I went right to the office and opened my Smuggler’s Bounty: Rogue One box. This was one of my favorite boxes from Smuggler’s Bounty. Inside there were two Pop figures, a T-Shirt, a Pin, a Patch and a Mini Hikari statue. The shirt is awesome. It has the cast on it with the Death Star looming in the background. Darth Vader is also there. One of the Pops is an exclusive Jyn Erso one with goggles on top of her head. The other exclusive Pop is a Death Trooper holding a rifle. The box rounds out with a Darth Vader Mini Hikari figure which came in multiple colors. I got a black one. The patch was of Captain Cassian Andor and the pin was of K-2S0. You can see the whole unboxing in the video below.
Today we also had some big things going on. First we had Eva’s play, Aristocats Jr. I put up a photo of Eva on Facebook and wrote this.
I’m so proud of my daughter. She just finished two days of the production Aristocats Jr. I’m proud, not because she was the lead. She wasn’t. I’m proud, not because she had a bunch of lines. She had none.
I’m proud because even though she was crushed when she learned that she wouldn’t have a speaking role; that she kept at it and worked really hard. She did not drop out or become bitter.
Were there tears at the news? Yes. Were there questions that were hard to answer? Yes. Was there a moment where discussing the disappointments and mistakes of my past could help? Or did it help talking about the struggles that her hero, Lindsey Stirling, went through to get to where she is today? I’d like to think so.
She’s nine and will have many moments to shine in future productions. There will also be many disappointments because that is the nature of performance and competition. She certainly took more away from this show because of how she felt at the start and then how she chose to feel about her role.
She did the absolute best that she could in her role. She worked hard each rehearsal and found a lot to enjoy in being a part of the cast. Her joy was easy to see as she sang and danced on stage, two things that she really loves.
She’s excited and ready for the next one. I can’t wait to watch it.
After the play we had a family party for Andrew’s birthday. It isn’t until Tuesday but we’ve had a couple of parties leading up to Tuesday. Monday he’s bringing special snack in to school. He and Allison will be making Finding Dory cookies. Allison found 3D printed cookie cutters shaped like Dory and Nemo. I’m excited to see ow they come out. Andrew’s party today was nice. We had my parents and sisters there along with my Aunt and Eva’s friend Anna as well as our friends Holly, Rose and Noah. Allison made some great cupcakes and we picked up some pizza with my winnings from the 50/50 raffle at the play. I’m hoping that lucky streak sticks around for tonight’s Powerball.
