This morning Allison, Eva and I went to Cape Cod Kayak to join a paddling trip. Our friend Kim hooked us up with a double kayak and a top notch guide in her nephew Josh. Josh has been working in the store and on the water for the past seven years and he is a really great guide. He took us to Monk’s Cove and then around Toby’s Island. Today I went to Omega Pond and Omega Dam in East Providence. Today was the 4th annual Scoop the Herring day put on by the Ten Mile River Watershed Council. My friend Keith pulled this event together and there were a ton of volunteers. The volunteers picked up bags and bags of trash including shopping carts and a tank for a BBQ Grill. The event not only was for the day but to also build awareness for the need for fish ladders so that many species of fish, like herring, can easily come back up to the rivers to spawn.
