MEGA Bloks Skylanders SwapForce Stump Smash Series 3 Battle Portal

I received a special package from MEGA Bloks this past week that included five new products. Three of them were from the new MEGA Bloks Skylanders Swap Force line and two from the Skylanders Giants line. The opinions expressed by me are 100% my own.

Hot on the heels of the Series 2 Battle Portals are the Series 3 ones. These are battle portals for Skylanders Swap Force. The figures are new, the packaging is new and the battle portal itself has changed again. We’ve gone back to the dark grey on the battle portal like the series 1 portals. We’ve also retained the translucent color on the base of the portal but now the bottoms of the portals are a green translucent instead of the orange. I would have preferred that the portals follow the Swap Force colors and have light blue as the bottom color like the bottoms of the Swap Force characters themselves.

Continuing with the series 3 battle portals we have the Hot Dog Battle Portal. Hot Dog comes with the battle portal, battle bumper, key and hourglass and elemental symbol bloks and a Frigid Imp to battle.

I received a special package from MEGA Bloks this past week that included five new products. Three of them were from the new MEGA Bloks Skylanders Swap Force line and two from the Skylanders Giants line. The opinions expressed by me are 100% my own.

Sprocket is one of my favorite Skylanders Giants characters. She is a strong female character that can take care of herself and build fantastic vehicles and weapons to defeat Kaos. This new MEGA Bloks set was a lot of fun to build. Here is the video of it.

Today was another Skylanders day around here. I received a bunch more shipments including my Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition from Gamestop but I’ll get to that. I received more characters as well and also this Skylanders Halloween Costume. While Eva is not going to go as Jet-Vac for Halloween it is a cute costume for her to use to play dress up. There are a bunch of Skylanders costumes available including costumes for Trigger Happy, Spyro, Gill Grunt, Crusher and Jet-Vac. I probably should have requested the Trigger Happy one since we have the MEGA Bloks Trigger Happy Coin Blasters. There was supposed to be a Jet-Vac vacuum blaster from MEGA Bloks that would go perfectly with this costume. The costume that she did get was pretty nice. It scared Andrew so I’m not sure how things are going to go for Halloween this year. Continue reading Hawk and Awww →

Skylanders Swap Force Wave 2 Sneak Preview

When I went over to Toys R Us yesterday looking for Wave 2 of Skylanders Swap Force they told me that they didn’t have Wave 2. The kid that I talked with said that they were not getting the figures at that location. He even showed me his paperwork and yet I know that the rumors on Twitter from Skylanders fans are more accurate than a Toys R Us employee’s knowledge. I decided to go and try again today. I got to the store 15 minutes after it opened and they had already sold out of a few Series 2 and Series 3 figures but they had all four of the Swap Force figures and two of the new core characters.

I walked in and went to the back and as I was walking I saw a mom with 4 figures and they were from Wave 2. I got to the back and another person shopping said to me that the figures were behind the counter. I turned and there were the guy I had spoken to yesterday. I called to him by name in my best “Dad Voice” because he had some ‘splaining to do. He said that they had the boxes all day yesterday and he didn’t even realize it. Either way I started buying whatever new Wave 2 ones they had. I was able to pick up Grilla Drilla, Boom Jet, Fire Kracken, Night Shift, Rip Tide and Scorp. So, at this time I’ve pretty much gotten every type of Swap Force character. I’m missing a character that can sneak, though.

Today I got a couple of my deliveries in the mail with a whole bunch of figures and I had pre-ordered. I still haven’t gotten the GameStop version yet. I’m starting to work on un-boxing videos and will be posting them soon.

Skylanders Swap Force Release Day

Skylanders Swap Force came out today. Did I play it today? No. Did I get the game today? No. I am expecting to receive a review copy sometime this week. I am expecting to receive my pre-ordered copy of the GameStop exclusive Dark edition in the mail this week. I’m expecting to receive my pre-ordered Nintendo 3DS version this week as well. I’m not sure why I pre-ordered things to be mailed to my house rather than pre-ordered them so that I could pick them up and play them on release day. Not too smart on my part since the game came out on a Sunday before a Monday holiday. I also ordered every figure from all the stores online and they’ll be arriving through the week. I’ll just have to wait a little longer, is all.

Undead Elemental Team, Almost Complete

There are two members of the Undead Elemental team from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Giants missing from this image. Lightcore Hex comes out on Sunday, even though I had her in my hands earlier this week. There is also a Halloween Themed Eye Brawl with a pumpkin head instead of the giant eye. I have that but it is put away for Eva’s birthday.

The Undead Elemental team is the latest team that I’ve been trying to complete before Skylanders Swap Force appears in stores on Sunday. I won’t be getting my copy of the game until Tuesday because I pre-ordered the Dark Edition from Gamestop and the 3DS version from Amazon. The regular version should be coming to me so that I can review it and that usually takes even longer. but, I have my checklist ready and I will be on the hunt on Sunday for all of Wave 1 Skylanders Swap Force figures.

Skylanders Swap Force Preview Event Recap

Yesterday I took the train down to New York City to attend a Skylanders Swap Force Event where I got to see a bunch of figures up close and actually got to touch them and what’s even better, I got to PLAY the game. Yeah there were four playable levels plus I got my hands on the 3DS version of the game. I learned a ton of information and I hope that I can relay all that I learned to you to help you get even more excited about buying this game and the figures when they come out in less than a month.

The event was at The James Hotel in Soho. I took the train in from Providence and then hopped the E train downtown to Soho. The event was in a suite in the hotel where there were four setups of the game, two on the Wii U and two on the XBox 360. There were a few characters to play with (Check out my full gallery of images of the Swap Force Figures) like Magna Charge (Swap-able Tech), Blast Zone (Swap-able Fire), Wash Buckler (Swap-able Water), Rattle Shake (Swap-able Undead), Lava Barf Eruptor (Re-posed Series 3 Fire), Mega Ram Spyro (Re-posed Series 3 Magic), Zoo Lou (New Core Life) and Roller Brawl (New Core Undead). These were the ones that we could play with. There were also some additional characters in a separate room with the Playstation 4 including Boom Jet (Swap-able Air), Grilla Drilla (Swap-able Life) and Slobber Tooth (New Core Earth).
