Skylanders Imaginators, Creator App and Halloween Costumes

Skylanders Halloween Costume Wallop
Photo-A-Day #4218

We received a Skylanders Halloween costume to try on and review. I opted for the Wallop one for Andrew. He liked it a lot. I think it was the giant Traptanium Hammers that Wallop has. The Wallop costume (aff link) comes with one but the character has two in the game. He even wore the costume to a Halloween party at Eva’s dance studio. He’s quite excited to wear it and play. You can see his excitement at the end of my video from today. You can see it below.

It has been a pretty Skylanders heavy month around here. What with the game releasing on the 16th and us getting it on the 12th. I haven’t done a full on review of the game as of yet so let me tell you my thoughts on it now. Skylanders Imaginators (aff link) is one of the best games in the series thus far. Not because I received Skylanders Imaginators for free to review, but because it has so many parts to it that I love. Creating new characters, the Imaginators, is a fantastic part of the game. We have opened a few of our Creation Crystals and have created a bunch of characters. I like the addition of Battle Classes to the game.

Each Sensei is a master of a Battle Class and when paired with a Skylander of the same class they give additional power. When you create an Imaginator with a Creation Crystal you have to lock in their Battle Class but otherwise you can constantly change and upgrade the character. We’ve done a ton of that. You can transfer your characters from the game (via sound) to the Skylanders Creator app. This app is fun and the kids love it. We currently have it running on 3 iPads and my Android phone so each day we are unlocking more parts with which to create characters. Once we get the exact one we like then we’ll create a actual physical character through 3D printing. That is rather amazing.

Skylanders Imaginators

We were given a whole mess of Skylanders days before the launch and I got to work making videos but I have so many more to do. I haven’t even tried out any of my existing figures in the game. I have a massive box in the basement that I need to bring up and see how the older Skylanders work in the game. I’m just having so much fun with the new ones that we’ve gotten that I haven’t had the time to check out the old ones.

Skylanders Imaginators also retains the whole racing aspect of Skylanders SuperChargers and so we can still use all of the vehicles that we have from that game. However, if you didn’t get into that game you can use any of the instant vehicles, there is one for each type of racing: Sky, Land and Sea.

You can play as Kaos in this game. Yes, there is a Kaos figure that you can use in Skylanders Imaginators. He is very powerful and has funny things to do as well.

They made a Skylander that is a Dinosaur! My very favorite dinosaur is a Triceratops and now there is a Sensei called Tri-Tip who is a Triceratops and he is super powerful. I love using that character when I play.

Master Tri-Tip

This month is also the month for the release of Skylanders Academy on Netflix. I’ve been excited to see this show and have not been disappointed at all. I’ve watched the first four episodes so far and it has already incorporated Giants, SwapForce, TrapTeam, SuperChargers and even Imaginators. Episode three introduces an Imaginator character which, I think, should be made downloadable through the official YouTube Channel. Because the Imaginators can be transferred via sound they can be sent to anyone. I even made an official BenSpark Imaginator that people can download. So I think that the Official Skylanders YouTube Page should make some Imaginators for people to download to the app. Speaking of the App, the kids talk about the app at the end of today’s vlog post.

Revolution at IDW – Worlds Colliding

350th Perfect Workout
Photo-A-Day #4180

Before I get to the comic books I have to talk about Koko Fit Club. I just completed my 350th perfect workout at Koko Fit Club. I have been working out there for about 3 years now and have been going 12 times a month in that time. I’ve had the goal of earning as many perfect workouts as I can to move on to the top 5th of all people at my club. I’m in sixth place and working hard to move on up.

I picked up some comics the other day and read through one of them: Revolution. This is where all of the Hasbro properties; M.A.S.K., Micronauts, ROM, Action Man, G.I. JOE and Transformers are going to come together in a single universe. This will set things up for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe, too. Taking a cue from Marvel, Hasbro is finally bringing all their toys together in one universe (except for things like My Little Pony and JEM, those are not part of this. I also heard that Visionaries would be a part of this as well. Who knows. I am excited to see where it leads.

Review: M.A.S.K.: The Complete Original Series

M.A.S.K. The Original Series

Back in the 80’s I consumed so many cartoons. Clearly my favorite one was Transformers. I also liked G.I. Joe because it was a Transformers lead in. I also liked He-Man, Thundercats and more. One of my other favorite cartoons was certainly M.A.S.K. and what’s more they were some of my favorite toys. The M.A.S.K. toys were some of the more fun toys to play with too. They were pretty rugged, they had figures and they changed forms. I had Matt Trakker’s Thunderhawk Camaro, I had Gator, Rhino, Boulder Hill Gas Station, Condor and Miles Mayhem’s Switchblade. For some reason I only had one bad guy and many of the good guys.

Photo-A-Day #1549

This morning I was up at 5:55am (so much for sleeping in or napping at the Cape). I ran over to the beach and started looking again for my wedding ring. No luck. My Dad was out even earlier and he talked to some of the guys who were out with metal detectors. He told them the story and also where we lived. I pretty much told anyone walking up the beach in that area the story. Still no luck.

So, after looking for a while I came home and edited my 4th of July Fireworks photos. I also worked on the photos from parade too. Dad made a big breakfast for us as well as for my Aunt and Uncle and their kids. They came up in their motor home and stayed the night. Eva was very happy to be playing with her buddy Amanda May. I think Eva ate about 14 breakfasts today, it was nuts. She just kept wanting more.

My Uncle Rich called to let me know that he was having a cookout and that one of my friends from high school would be there. So, we decided that we would go to the beach early in the morning and head home early to go to the cookout.

The beach was nice, the weather this weekend was gorgeous over all. It was windy but that just served to cool us down. I brought my snorkle and mask and spent about an hour wandering the close shoreline to search for the ring. Again I had no luck. At one point I saw a brilliant flash and my heart raced but it was only a piece of shiny ribbon.

It is amazing the connections that we have to other people. For instance my Uncle is dating the aunt of a friend of mine from high school and he just so happened to be visiting the same day that we would be visiting. We haven’t seen each other since High School either. Today on the beach I was reading one of the magazines from my big stack and a family friend came over and asked me about it. It was called Big Picture and was pretty much about large format printing. I received it randomly int he mail and had no idea what it was about. Well, our family friend used to write for the publication. We then spent the next 45 minutes talking about blogs and the printing industry. So many random connections happen all the time.

We headed home a little later than expected and got to Uncle Rich’s place for the Birthday Party (Happy Birthday Uncle Rich). Everyone but my friend’s Mom and Grandmother were over at Capron Park. We visited with them for a while and everyone returned. We spent a nice afternoon with my Uncle, his girlfriend, her sister and husband as well as mother. Then my friend and his wife and their son. It was great catching back up with Nick after so long. We even connected on Facebook so we will be able to continue to stay in contact.

Tomorrow we head up to NH to visit our brand new Niece! We are so excited.
