Marvel’s Heroes Come in All Sizes Campaign with Video

Captain Americ... uh... Black Widow

Check out this cute Stop Motion video featuring the Marvel Action figures. It is part of a campaign around the toys that will be coming from the brand. I did see some action figures around the $7.99 mark that look really nice, sort of the size that old action figures were and with some decent articulation, too. It looks like the one above which I found in an oddly mis-marked package recently. And No, I did not buy it, I should have done so. The video below makes me want to go buy a bunch and try to make some stop motion videos myself.

Marvel Unveils “Heroes Come In All Sizes” Retail Campaign for Spring 2017

Spring Focus Brings Together New Story Content, Brand-Driven Marketing, and Exciting Product Releases Celebrating Heroes Everywhere

Glendale, Calif. (February 7, 2017) – Building off three years of success for Marvel’s Super Hero Spectacular retail event, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) is debuting an all-new retail campaign in Spring 2017 tailored to heroes everywhere. “Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes” is a celebration of Marvel Super Heroes – and everyday heroes – across a broad spectrum of merchandise, new story content, digital storytelling, and collaborations all reinforcing the idea that the best way to measure a Super Hero is by the size of their heart. The campaign will package content with brand-driven marketing and new product releases to drive Marvel retail placement for fans of all ages.

“Whether you are big like Hulk, small like Ant-Man or smart and quick-to-action like Black Widow, Marvel truly has a hero for everyone,” said Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “From young kids to teenagers, to a casual fan or a diehard adult collector, Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes showcases that there is no singular definition for a hero and that our diversity is what makes us so powerful.”

Spring 2017 will bring a wealth of new Marvel storytelling spanning home entertainment, television, publishing and digital content, all highlighting the theme “Heroes Come in All Sizes.” Fans will be able to enjoy Marvel’s latest cinematic hit Marvel’s Doctor Strange at home with the Blu-Ray and DVD release on February 28th, while Marvel Publishing launches the new Monsters Unleashed! comic series and Disney Publishing releases the first novel for young readers featuring Squirrel Girl in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Meets World and a picture book featuring Baby Groot. On the small screen, fans will be able to catch the season 3 finale of Marvel’s Ultron Revolution and the season 4 finale of Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. The Sinister Six. More Marvel favorites will be returning to television with the season 2 premiere of the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series and the premiere of new “Rocket and Groot” video shorts. Eva Reviews: Moana, Starlight Canoe & Friends

Moana Starlight Canoe and Friends
Photo-A-Day #4277

We recieved the Moana, Starlight Canoe & Friends to play with and review. Opinions are our own.

Eva helped me with this review by playing with the toy and telling me about it on the video below. We loved the movie Moana when we saw it as a family. There were so many great parts to it including the information about wayfinding. Wayfinding is the special way in which people from the Pacific Islands navigated the oceans. The canoe that Moana has in the movie and the other ones that she discoveres are very close to the look of a special canoe that is making its way around the world, the Hokulea. This double hulled canoe is being sailed by a group of peopel who have been learning the art of wayfinding before it is lost forever. It is so cool that a kids movie touches upon something that is so close to the heart of the Pacific Islands.

This is a pretty nice playset. The doll is an excellent one and looks great compared to her movie counterpart. The figures of Pua and Hei Hei are also done really well. Pua is the best of the bunch, he looks just like the character. The canoe is okay but the “gentle rocking motion” is not exactly that gentle. It rocks from side to side with a lot of extra motion. So much so that pua and Hei Hei fall off when you move it. Eva will talk more about it in the video.

Also, below the video is a clip from the movie Moana.

Light It Up with the IllumiBowl

Blue Bowl

I was sent an IllumiBowl 2 to try out and review. This is a product that was seen on Shark Tank. It is also one of those products that you say to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?!?”. One of those amazingly simple ideas that solves a problem that many people have. Late night trips to the bathroom usually mean getting blinded by the bathroom light. Now with the IllumiBowl there is no need to even turn on the light. Continue reading Light It Up with the IllumiBowl

My Favorite Song from Moana – We Know The Way

Moana Poster

Of all the songs from Moana I am most impressed by the song “We Know The Way”. It is a beautiful song and I have the full clip of it below. The song is written and performed by Opetaia Foa’i and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The MOANA original motion picture soundtrack, the two-disc deluxe edition and the digital deluxe edition soundtrack are available wherever music is sold and streamed. More about Moana below.

Full Clip of My Favorite Moana Song “You’re Welcome!”

Youre WelcomeOne of my favorite songs in Moana is “You’re Welcome”. Andrew and I sing this song over and over. He also maybe made me play the clip below about 10 times straight. He doesn’t like when I sing the song, though. So I can sing it to bug him when he’s bugging me. “You’re Welcome!”

MOANA stars Dwayne Johnson (voice of “Maui”), newcomer Auli’i Cravalho (voice of “Moana”) was directed by Disney legends Ron Clements & Don Hall (“Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Princess and the Frog,” etc.) with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda (of “Hamilton” fame). But there is another main character in MOANA that was sometimes difficult to work with…

MOANA is now playing in theatres everywhere!

Moana is Out in Theaters Now

Moana in Theaters Now

On Monday the whole family was treated to an advanced screening of Disney’s Moana. This is a beautiful film that was both funny and amazing. The music was some of the best I have heard in a long while. We ended up listening to the Moana Spotify station non-stop since we saw the movie. Songs have been stuck in our heads and smiles on our faces remembering that movie.

Moana as a character is fantastic. She is strong, determined and is searching for her place in the world. She is drawn to the ocean against the wishes of her father. Despite her love for her family she disobeys her father and journeys the open ocean. It is her strong love for her family and her connection to her people that she does this. She is on a journey of self discovery and it will take all of her courage and determination to succeed.

A major part of the movie was about wayfinding. Wayfinding is Polynesian navigation that has been used for thousands of years to make long voyages across thousands of miles of open ocean. I learned about this during the Summer when I visited the Hokulea when it sailed into Woods Hole. The ships in Moana look very much like the Hokulea. Seeing Moana learn how to to sail was inspiring.

The movie was also very funny. We loved Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Maui. He had some great lines in the movie. From the trailer you see him jump into a deep hole and a few minutes later yells “I’m Still Falling!” On our way home from the movie we said that it looked like Andrew was falling asleep. His eyes were closed and he looked asleep, but he pops open one eye and says, “I’m still falling.” Even funnier after having seen the movie.

The water was a character in the movie, too. You can see some more funny moments with water in the featurette below.

Pop Rocks Challenge!!!!

Kids Being Sweet
Photo-A-Day #4231

It was a nice day at home. The kids had fun playing together and they also helped me with a couple of videos. One is going to take me a while to complete but the other one is a Pop Rocks Challenge. I was at Five Below this past week and bought a mess of Pop Rocks. One package of each color and I wanted to see what the kids thought of Pop Rocks. The kids have wanted to try out these candies for a while. Eva has never had them before, but Andrew tried them once and he liked them. Eva has been fearful of them a bit but she agreed to try them out. I think that they got a lot of laughs out of the challenge. Andrew loved it. They also loved it when I put a bunch in my mouth and then tried to talk.

Allison worked on Andrew’s birthday cake for his party tomorrow. He’s having a Finding Dory themed party at the karate studio. What he doesn’t know is that he gets to cut his cake with a sword. He’s gonna flip. I have to make sure to get that on video. It should be a great time.

And speaking of Finding Dory. We watched the movie this afternoon. Well, I watched for a bit and then started to fall asleep so I went up to bed to rest before work. Tomorrow will be a busy day.

Review – Iron Man Smartphone Stand

Iron Man Smartphone Stand
Photo-A-Day #4221

I received an Iron Man Smartphone Stand (aff link) from Toy Island to use and review. Opinions are 100% my own.

Iron Man is my go to super hero. I’m a big fan. So, when I was offered a Smartphone Stand that uses an app to look like Tony Stark/Iron Man I was excited to try it out. This is a toy for kids ages 8 and up and so the app is rather simple. You can set alarms, tap the face of Iron Man/Tony Stark and tilt the toy around. Iron Man is funny and cocky as I would expect him to be. I’ve played with it a bit and haven’t gone through all of the 50 phrases and animations.

The device also has an opening so there is access to connect the charger so at night you can pop you smartphone into the stand and connect the charger, play with Iron man for a bit and then put him into sleep mode, make sure that you set the alarm and you are good to go overnight. You can see more about it in the vlog below.

More details on the Iron Man Smartphone Stand below. Continue reading Review – Iron Man Smartphone Stand
